Simona Petkova, Pink Bari :”Sono quel tipo di persona che non molla mai e cerca sempre di migliorarsi in campo”

Simona Petkova, classe ’93 e di origine bulgara, arriva dal Watford per vestire la maglietta biancorossa del Pink Bari nel campionato di serie A.
La centrocampista del team pugliese, ben nota per un’ottima tecnica e abilità di palleggio , si è posizionata settima in classifica ai campionati mondiali di freestyle.

Quando hai iniziato a giocare a calcio?
In realtà ho iniziato molto tardi , a 16 anni.La mia prima partita importante è stata con la Nazionale Bulgara U17. Quando ero piccola in Bulgaria c’erano alcuni tornei organizzati per le ragazze ma non giocavamo nello Stadio perciò il mio esordio in campo è stato direttamente con la Nazionale U17.
Perchè?
Ero una bambina con un grande sogno. Ero diversa dalle altre ragazze, giocavo a calcio con i ragazzi per strada e a scuola . Penso che il calcio sia il mio destino.
Dato il tuo background da calciatrice professionista cosa ti ha spinto ad entrare nella Pink Bari?
Nella mia carriera cerco sempre di migliorarmi. Quando giocavo in Inghilterra ho ricevuto l’offerta dalla Pink Bari e stavo considerando come il calcio italiano stia progredendo.Ho preso questa opportunità come una sfida.
Quali sono i tuoi punti di forza?
Come calciatrice ho tanti punti di forza. Penso di avere una grande visione di gioco. La mia idea di assist è alquanto interessante. Posso giocare in più posizioni in campo. Sono brava tecnicamente e riesco a giocare con la palla molto velocemente. Sono quel tipo di persona che non molla mai e cerca sempre di migliorarsi in campo. Anche durante gli allenamenti do il 100%.
Cosa ne pensi dell’andamento del campionato finora?
E’ difficile da dire, posso parlare solo per me come calciatrice e posso dire che devo dare di più in squadra. In questo momento non sto giocando bene per come potrei.
Il campionato è davvero interessante e competitivo. Penso che come squadra abbiamo soltanto bisogno di mostrare le nostre qualità e sento che questo momento sta arrivando.
Giocherete nuovamente contro la Fiorentina : come vi state preparando?
Si giocheremo nuovamente contro la Fiorentina Women. Sono davvero emozionata perchè la mia migliore prestazione è stata proprio contro questa squadra.
In realtà non è stata solo la mia performance impeccabile ma stavamo giocando davvero bene come squadra. Spero si possa ripetere. Credo sia una opportunità per una grande vittoria contro una delle migliori squadre italiane.
Secondo te qual è la differenza tra calcio femminile italiano, inglese e bulgaro?
A mio parere ci sono molte differenze .Innanzitutto in Inghilterra c’è un campionato femminile da molti anni, perciò sono più avanti.
In Italia ho visto una grande evoluzione e sono sicura che andrà sempre in meglio.
La Bulgaria invece ha segnato il suo primo passo nella storia del calcio femminile  ma , siamo ancora dilettanti. Non abbiamo un campionato professionistico. Un altro aspetto su cui noto delle differenze è la tattica. In Inghilterra ci sono delle sessioni di tattica ma di gran lunga lontane dall’Italia. Nella Pink Bari per la prima volta nella mia carriera ho trascorso ore e ore a studiare le azioni e la tattica in generale.
In Inghilterra il calcio è più fisico.
Quali sono i tuoi piani per il futuro?
Per ora il mio obiettivo è mostrare le mie potenzialità e giocare bene il campionato. Ho avuto delle difficoltà e solo ora inizio a sentirmi me stessa in campo. Ho riacquistato la fiducia in me stessa e questo è quello di cui ho davvero bisogno per i miei progetti futuri. Sogno di giocare delle partite importanti e vorrei tanto aiutare la mia Nazione a progredire. Vorrei essere un leader per la Bulgaria.
Sogno di vedere il mio Paese giocare un Mondiale.

Simona Petkova ,Pink Bari :”I am the person who never gives up and always try to improve any aspects of the game”

Simona Petkova was born in 1993. She is a bulgarian footballer and comes from Watford to play in Pink Bari. The midfielder is well known for the excellent techinique and dribbling skills .She ranked seventh in the world freestyle championship.

When did you start playing football?
Actually I started very very late. I was 16 year-old. Interesting for my first official game on the big field was for the National Team of Bulgaria U17. When I was child in Bulgaria there wew some tournaments for girls but we did not play at the big stadium , so my debut on the pitch was directly for the National Team U17.
Why?
I was a kid with big dream . I was different from other girls .
I played football on the street and at school with boys . I think football is my destiny.
Given your professional background what did make you join this team?
In my professional career I always try to improve myself . When I was playing in England I received the offer from Pink Bari and I was thinking about how italian football is growing up.
I took this opportunity as a challenge.
What would you say are your strengths?
My strenghts as a player are many . I think I have a great vision for the game . My idea for assists is quite interesting. I can play more than one position on the pitch. I’m good technically and I can work with the ball very quickly .
I am the person who never gives up and always try to improve any aspects of the game. Even on training session I am giving my 100%.
What do you think of this year’s league so far?
It is a bit difficult to say . I can speak only for me , as a player I have to give more to the team . At this moment I’m not performing well as I can . The league is very interesting and very competitive .
I believe as a team we just need to show our quality. I feel this time is coming.
You will play again against Fiorentina Women: how are you getting ready for it?
Yes, we are going to play again against them . I am very excited about it as I think my best performance was against this team . Actually it is not only my performance. We were playing very good. I hope just to repeat the same still of playing .
I believe this is a chance to take a big win over the one of the best Italian Club.
In your opinion which is the main difference between Italian, Bulgarian and English women’s football?
In my opinion the differences between English , Italian and Bulgarian football are a lot. Firstly England have women’s professional league many years, so they are a bit further. In Italy I see the big progress and I am sure will be better and better . Bulgaria just made first history in woman’s football but we are still amateurs . We don’t have professional league .Other things are here the first and the most is the tactics . In England there are tactics session but is far away from Italy .
In Bari I seen for first time in my career how many hours we spent on set pieces and tactics in general . In England the football is more physical.
What are your plans for the future?
For now my plans are to show my potential and to perform well the rest of the season. I had really difficult time here and now I start to be myself on the pitch . I feel my confidence back and this is what I really need for my future plans. I dream for big games and of course I really want to help my Country  to move forward. I want to be leader for Bulgaria .
I am dreaming to see my Country to play a World Cup.
