From the United States, Autumn Scanlon (born in 1995) is ready to take the field to defend the goalposts of a European team thanks to the partnership developed between the Women’s Football Management (WFM), Soccer Performance International (SPI) and the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), the largest women’s soccer league in the world.

In short: Autumn is on the market. She wants to play in Europe and she is looking at Italy with great interest. We have no idea now about who is going to close a deal with her but we can grant that whoever will be able to hire her, won’t be disappointed. Because Scanlon is truly an exceptional goalkeeper who could make a difference.

Scanlon has played his last seasons in the United States at Rhode Island Rouges (WPSL) and in the Eastern Massachusetts Women’s Soccer League (EMWSL). At the end of 2021, the goalkeeper joined the Safira Women’s Futsal First Team.

Alumnae of the Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), Scanlon was Goalkeeper Coach and Assistant at the UMass Boston Women’s Team and Goalkeeper Coach the Liverpool International Academy Massachusetts (LFCIA).
Scanlon was named twice in the WPSL All Conference Team (2019, 2021) and named in the EMWSL – All Conference Team in 2019.

Scanlon is a strong and direct communicator with a very open mind. As athlete she demonstrates great leadership values which leads her personality to constructive, concrete and concise feedback on the pitch. Considering the technical side, her strengths are being aggressive on the goal line, good on breakaways and 1v1 situations. Outside of the field, health and wellness are a priority, as well as the awareness that practicing helps to make progresses and that learning from mistakes is an opportunity to grow.

We had the chance to talk to her and that what she said.

Why are you looking to Europe as a place to boost your career?
I have grown up playing this game all my life in America, and now I feel really excited & hopeful about the opportunity to fine-tune my technical ability and enhance my overall understanding of the game in a country that values soccer with a different perspective and approach.

Why did you decide joining WFM?
From the beginning, WFM has been nothing but open and honest with their mission and goals. They have created a family dynamic that gives me the faith and trust in this partnership and allows me to focus on the game; while simultaneously representing and protecting us in the international market. WFM has made my goals a priority and helped establish the building blocks and foundation I need to get my foot in the door at this level of play.

Who is your role model, i.e. the player that inspires you?
Mia Hamm is the player that has inspired me as a soccer player. In the face of adversity, my mantra is always her quote, “…play for the little girl who first fell in love with the game”. I also value and look up to Mia Hamm because she was one of the most influential players in paving the way for women’s soccer in America.
